Urban Rail Transit Site Classification Based on k-means Clustering

The classification of urban rail transit stations plays an important role in studying the land use,the variation of passenger flow and the development trend around different types of stations.11 variables,which are related to the site' s own characteristics and the influencing factors of the surrounding environment of the site,were selected as the initial clustering variables.Then the Z-score method was used to standardize the variables,and four main factors were extracted by principal component analysis,and finally k-means clustering method was used to classify the stations of rail transit according to the four main factors extracted.In this paper,a total of 58 stations in Suzhou Metro Line 1 and Line 2 were clustered and finally divided into five types of stations:general stations,commercial stations,transportation connecting stations,residential stations and integrated transportation stations.Through site classification,we can establish a basis for the follow-up study of the classified sites to provide reference for the development of the surrounding areas of the rail transit sites.
