Study on Adsorption Performance of Modified Zeolite to Chromium

we modified the natural zeolite with sulfuric acid and copper sulfate,then the effects of modified zeolite dosage,adsorption time and solution p H on the adsorption of chromium,and adsorption characteristics and mechanism of action were discussed. The results showed that the adsorption rate increased with the increase of the amount of zeolite,but the increase trend became slow and finally stabilized. With the increase of adsorption time,the adsorption effect increased and became stable after 4 hours. In the neutral or weak acid environment,the adsorption rate of chromium is higher than that in the alkaline environment. The adsorption efficiency of the zeolite was improved obviously with the modification. The adsorption process fitted well with the Freundlich equation,1/n 1,indicating that the adsorption of chromium was the preferential. After the modification,the adsorption strength was 20 times of the natural zeolite.
