Adsorption of Phenol by Acetaldehyde-Sulfuric acid modified peanut shells

Acetaldehyde-Sulfuric Acid modified peanut shells were tested through the single variable experiment and orthogonal test to explore the best condition and the priority of each factor with single-factor and multi-factor. Scanning Electron Microscope( SEM) was applied to observe the changes of the surface characteristics of modified peanut shells. It is indicated that the best adsorption capacity of the single variable experiment is 90 min of optimum adsorption time,1. 0g of adsorbent,30mg/L of initial concentration,40℃ of the adsorption temperature and 70 m L of buffer solution. And the modified peanut shells' maximum adsorption efficiency of phenol is more than 95%. In the orthogonal test,the initial concentration is 20 mg/L,adsorbent is 1. 0 g,and the adsorption temperature is 50℃,which is the best combination of the test. The effect of each factor rankedas: dosage of adsorbent adsorption temperature initial concentration.
