Anti-infective Treatment Analysis of a Complicated Infected Patient after Total Gastrectomy SICU Clinical Pharmacist Involved

OBJECTIVE To investigate the roles of clinical pharmacists on infection therapy in severely infected patients. METHODS The clinical pharmacist participated in the treatment of one patient with complicated infection after total gastrectomy. Rational suggestions were made in the selection,dosage,course of treatment,adverse reactions and precautions of antimicrobial agents according to the pathogen and the culture results analysis. RESULTS The participation of clinical pharmacists is helpful to the reasonable application of antimicrobial agents. No adverse reactions occurred during the patient's therapy in surgical intensive care unit( SICU). The patient's infection was finally controlled. CONCLUSION The participation of clinical pharmacists is helpful to improve the efficacy and safety of clinical drug therapy.
