A Preliminary Study on the Thinning Effect of Populus×euramericana Plantation

In order to increase the economic benefit of the dense stand about poplar plantation,this study took Populus×euramericana as the research object,took the stand with 3 m×2 m density planting as an example,the experiment on thinning time and thinning configuration were conducted(the thinning intensity was 50%),and the growth and the economic benefit were investigated and analyzed. The results showed that:(1) the growth of the stand with 3 m×2 m density planting was inhibited in the second year after afforestation,and decreased significantly in the fifth year.(2) Thinning time had significant effect on the DBH,individual volume and unit stock volume, the earlier the thinning time is generally more beneficial to the growth; Thinning configuration had no significant effect on the growth,but it showed that triangle configuration be better than rectangular configuration.(3) Thinning time had significant effect on the economic benefit,but it did not showed obvious regularity; Thinning configuration had no significant effect on the economic benefit, but it showed that triangle configuration be higher than rectangular configuration. The net earning of the stand thinned with triangle configuration in the third year after afforestation was the most in all treatments,was 25973±2256 yuan/hm2,improved by 27.4% compared with the unthinned stand(CK). Therefore,it was suggested that the stand with 3 m ×2 m density planting should be thinned with triangle configuration in the third year after afforestation.
