Investigation of Different Garden Tree on Snow Disaster Resistance and Preventive Measures

In order to prevent snow disaster and decrease loss in highland urban landscaping,disaster rate and number of breaking branches of different trees were studied after snowing, Picea crassifolia kom and Sabina przewalskii kom resisted snow disaster, Pinus tabulaeformis Carr, Populus cathayana Rehd, Ulmus pumila L,Salix matsudana Koidz and Syringa reticulata H were easily to happen snow disaster,trunk-grade branches of those trees were pruned in different length and pruning wound were covered with different material. The result showed that trunk-grade branches of Picea crassifolia kom and Sabina przewalskii kom resisted snow disaster,Pinus tabulaeformis Carr,Populus cathayana Rehd,Ulmus pumila L,Salix matsudana Koidz and Syringa reticulata H were pruned in 100 cm and pruning wound were covered with plastic film,the disaster rate were decreased and the number of breaking branches were increased,the disaster rate were 5.62%,19.92%,6.40%,8.17% and 4.81%,the number of breaking branches were 7.13/plant,16.16/plant,30.18/plant,22.37/plant and9.24/plant. Therefore, the pruning measures that trunk-grade branches were pruned in 100 cm and pruning wound were covered with plastic film were suggested to increase snow disaster resistance.
