The Research on Using L1 in the Task-based Classroom Interaction of College English Teaching

This article expounds that the feasibility of application of L1 in the task-based classroom.Task-based approach gives learners opportunities to use the target language and to do ‘things’ with language.The first language use is inevitable for learners due to the process of implementing the tasks.The research method draws on an interview study with teachers and learners on the topic the using L1 in the task-based classroom.Three aspects are analyzed including the class interaction of using the target language;the teachers’opinions about using L1,strategies for encouraging learners to use L1.The paper suggests that to use L1 with balanced and flexible ways can contribute to task-based interaction.
