Effect of coagulation conditions on morphology of as-spun PAN fiber during wet spinning

The effects of coagulation conditions, including coagulation bath temperature, concentration and apparent minus stretch, on the morphology of as-spun PAN fiber were analyzed. The coagulation parameters were optimized. The results showed that the coagulation bath temperature, concentration and apparent minus stretch had their critical values when other coagulation conditions remained unchanged. The properties of as-spun fibers and precursors were decreased when those parameters were lower or higher than the critical values. The as-spun fibers with circular cross section and compact microstructure and the precursors with excellent mechanical properties can be produced under coagulation bath temperature 60℃ and mass fraction 65%.
