Preparation of nonwoven mats of poly(L-lactic acid)nanofiber via electrospinning

Nonwoven mats of poly (L-lactic acid ) (PLLA) biodegradable nanofiber were prepared via electrospinning. The effects of process parameters on the fiber morphology were analyzed, such as spinning solution concentration, voltage, deposition distance, extrusion rate. The results showed that the spinning solution concentration and extrusion rate had a profound effect on fiber diameter. The higher the extrusion rate was, the greater the fiber micro-pore number and dimension were. The appropriate voltage and deposition distance were helpful to the collection of the fibers with no bead. The pore size of the nonwoven mats was tended to decrease while decreasing the fiber diameter. The PLLA nanofiber with the diameter 200-400 nm can be produced via electrospinning under the conditions of PLLA mass fraction 5.7%, extrusion rate 0.8 mL/h, deposition distance 15.5 cm and voltage 8 kV.
