Application of image processing technology in mixing effect evaluation

A practical mixing effect evaluation software was developed based on the mixing theory and computer image processing technology, which mainly included image processing and image analysis. The image processing unit could improve the subjective observation effect when the image analysis unit could quantify the mixing effect. The mixing experiments were performed on the conventional extruder, spherical cavity mixer and linear groove dynamic mixer separately. The mixing effect was evaluated in terms of objective number, image center of gravity, objective complexity and variance value. The results showed that the spherical cavity mixer provided the best mixing effect.
