Research progress in ACF surface modification and nitrogen oxide removal

The surface functional groups of activated carbon fiber (ACF) and its effect on the surface properties of ACF were introduced. The modification methods were described, such as redox modification, microwave radiation modification, plasma modification. The application research of ACF surface modification on the nitrogen oxide removal was reviewed. It was pointed out that ACF can be used as catalyst or catalyst carrier in the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxide, but a further research was needed to develop the technique using ACF as catalyst carrier, and the developing trend was the modification contributing high performance to ACF.
