Influence of hindered amine antioxidant on thermal-oxidative aging properties of PA6 industrial yarn

The thermal properties and the mechanical properties of a nylon 6(PA6-DNP) industrial yam incorporated with 0.5%hindered amine antioxidant of N,N'-di-2-naphthyl-p-phenylenedia-mine(DNP) by mass fraction were compared with those of nylon 6(PA6) industrial yarn during the thermal oxidative aging process.The influence of DNP on the thermal properties of PA6 industrial yarn was studied.The results showed that DNP did not change the melting point of the PA6 industrial yarn, but caused the transformation of crystal form.DNP did not provide a great effect on the thermal decomposition in nitrogen atmosphere, but inhibited the thermal decomposition process in oxygen atmosphere and raised the decomposition temperature of 5.5℃.During the high-temperature thermal oxidative aging process,the addition of DNP reduced the loss of breaking strength and elongation at break of the PA6 industrial yarn,but the initial modulus had no change.
