Modification and dispersion behavior of nano-TiO_2 and micro-SiO_2

The modification of nano-TiO_2 and micro-SiO_2 was conducted using different dispersion processes in presence of different modifiers.The particle size and surface structure of nano-TiO_2 and micro-SiO_2 powders were characterized by laser granulometer, infrared spectrometry(IR),thermogravimetry(TG).The optimal dispersion process of ultramicro particle was discussed in ethylene glycol.The results showed that titanate coupling agent(NDZ-201) can be grafted on the surface of nano-TiO_2 with the graft ratio about 6%when silane coupling agent(KH570) can be grafted on the surface of micro-SiO_2 with the graft ratio about 9%.The surface modification process were optimized as followed;zirconium bead diameter 1 mm,4%NDZ-201 by mass fraction,grinding time 30 min for nano-TiO_2;and steel bead diameter 6 mm,2%KH570 by mass fraction and grinding time 30 min for micro-SiO_2.
