Rheological behavior and thermal properties of PP/GMS blend

Polypropylene(PP) and glyceryl monostearate(GMS) were melt and blended to produce PP/GMS blend containing different amounts of GMS.The rheological behavior and thermal properties of PP/GMS blend were studied with capillary rheometer and differential scanning calorimeter.The crystalline morphology and the crystallization kinetics were investigated with polarization microscope.The results showed that PP/GMS blend was a pseudoplastic fluid,and GMS could reduce the apparent viscosity of the blend.αcrystal existed dominantly in the blend,but GMS helped the formation ofβcrystal.The crystallinity of the blend was decreased and the wettability was increased while increasing the GMS content.
