Tentative Study of Consulting System for Selecting Welding Electrode

This paper presents function and architectures of consulting system for selecting welding electrode and the discussion is centred on the technology of design and implementation. The system provides inquiring about groove standard shape and size for welding low carbon steel and preventive measures for common weld defect as well as consultion for selecting welding electrode. The consulting system for selecting welding electrode is developed using CM.1 expert system tool, and inquiring about groove and weld defect is implemented using Turbo C ( mostly graphic ) . The other architectures of the system are directly taken advantage of CM.1 expert system to generate them except for the knowledge base, CM.l-Turbo C interface and groove weld defect.
