Research on the Mechanical Performance for Welded Joints of Ship's Gunnel Fillet Welding

The mechanical Models of finite element stress analysis method of full and incomplete penetration welded joints of gunnel are established in this paper.The elasto-plastic stress of gunnel is calculated by plane strain finite element method and three dimensional finite element method.The influence.of length,width and shape of nonpenetrated cracking on stress concentration at weld root nonpenetrated portion is studied.By using grouping comparison method of fatigue test,the full penetrated and incomplete penetrated welded joints′fatigue performances are studied.Finally,the authors point out that for the welded joints of the gunnel with a thickness of 10mm-30mm,a little incomplete penetation weld joints can take the place of fully penetrated ones.This will simplify the shipbuilding technology and raise the economic profit.
