Numerical Simulation of 3D Bionic Caudal Fin

Aiming at the development of a bionic maneuverable propulsion system applied in the small underwater vehicle,a three-dimensional rigid bionic model of the caudal fin is established on the basis of the caudal fin of tunny.The unsteady flow field of pitching and heaving model is simulated numerically by means of the large commercial computational fluid dynamic software FLUENT.The hydrodynamic coefficients of the caudal fin as well as the characteristic figures of the flow field in the back area are obtained.The propelling mechanisms of 3D bionic caudal fin are explored.
