Numerical simulation of residual stress relaxation in typical weld joint of FPSO under fatigue loading

In order to assure the safety and reliability of a typical weld joint of FPSO(Floating Production Storage and Offloading),it is an important research project to predict residual stress relaxation under fatigue loading.In this paper,first,a typical welded connection of FPSO is investigated with 3-D elastic-plastic finite element analysis;moreover,it is validated with experimental data.Afterwards,residual stresses relaxation of the structure under fatigue loading is studied.Results show that the residual stress relaxation is closely related to the initial residual stress and the external loading.
