Design of a rotary-linear permanent magnet motor with two three-phase winding systems

In order to research electrical drives with multiple degrees of freedom used in several application fields,e.g.robotics and tooling machines,a new type of rotary-linear permanent magnet motor with two-dimensional motion was proposed in this paper.The proposed motor consists of two three-phase winding systems that separately distributes in radial and axial axes to product rotary and linear motion.One special magnet structure was put forward,and it can not only produce enough torque and drag force but also decouple rotary and linear motion.The structure principle and design process of an experimental motor was introduced in detail in the paper.The validity of the design technique was confirmed by a three-dimension finite element method calculation.
