Numerical simulation and analysis of the flashover phenomenon of the fire in bulk ship engine room

Considering the thermal radiation,the convective heat transfer,and the pressure variation,a mathematics model of the fire flashover phenomenon in a bulk carrier engine room was established based on the conservation equation and the nonlinear principle.Fourth order Runge-Kutta was used to solve the model.Moreover,the time of the flashing occurred,the collision factor,the oxygen consumption of combustion were analyzed.The results show that flashover occurs when t=100 s.After that,the fire system becomes steady,and the collision factor changes slowly.The variation of the oxygen concentration in engine room reduces to a certain degree;and then,the change becomes slowly.The oxygen concentration decreases rapidly to 10% before 200 s.Concentration of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide is 3%,1.3% at 121 s and 50 s respectively.At the same time,reliability of the model is analyzed.The model is important for personnel escape in ship engine room fire.
