Analysis on the dynamic response of offshore wind turbine under the joint action of wave and seismic

Based on the FEM software ANSYS,a model of a typical mono-pile offshore wind turbine is built to calculate the dynamic response of the structure. Two different water depths and three kinds of earthquake acceleration are chosen for wave loads and seismic excitation based on the natural frequency of the structure and the actual cases. The calculation results show that when the water is shallow and relative small,the dynamic response of the structure is mainly caused by the seismic excitation and the influence of wave can be ignored. However,for high sea,wave seriously influences the response of the base. Due to the phase difference between peaks of seismic and wave,the dynamic response of the structure may be decreased for joint action. The dynamic response of the offshore wind turbine will be influenced to different extent under the combined excitation of wave and seismic. So it is necessary to take wave and seismic together into consideration in offshore wind turbine design.
