Analysis of damping characteristics of a system of single degree of freedom based on magneto-rheological dampers

We researched the vibration characteristic of a system of single degree of freedom which is based on the spring-MR dampers and analyzed the effect of the MR damper vibration control by simulating with the sine excitations of different amplitudes and frequencies. An experimental model was established for the MR damper vibration system,and the vibration characteristic tested in different excitation situations. The result shows that damping effect of the MR damper gets better with the growth of the excitation frequency and amplitude in a low frequency domain of thirty Hertz. As the excitation frequency grows,the effect is more obvious. When the excitation frequency is the same as the first order frequency of the system,the damping effect is good.
