Quantitative risk assessment on leakage accidents of LNG carriers in inland rivers

By using the PHAST software combined with the actual situation of inland rivers, we simulate and analyze the consequences of accidents, including diffusion of LNG, fire and explosion. The results show that when the 25 mm aperture leaks and a fire and explosion accident occurs, the fire model is mainly characterized by jet fire, and the maximum impact radius of the explosion accident is 225 m. A 100 mm aperture leak can also cause a pool fire with a radius of 25 m and a maximum impact radius of 800 m for an explosion accident. The study can provide a basis for the safe transportation of inland river LNG carriers and the safety design of LNG receiving stations.
