INFRARED SPECTRUM STUDY ON AURIFEROUS QUARTZ OF MAOPAI GOLD DEPOSIT IN JIANGXI

Maopai gold deposit is a newly-discovered gold ore by our institute. This paper takes Maopai gold-deposits as examples, the gold-bearing property of quartz is experimented and studied making use of infrared spectrometry. Experiments show the gold content of quartz and the ratios (D_2/ D_(?)) of absorbance of carbon dioxide (D_2 (CO_2)) and absorbance of quartz (D_0 (Q)) are closely related and can be the standard parameters of evaluating the gold-bearing property of quartz vein. Infrared spectrometry is used in general-investigation and exploration of gold deposits and one of the effective gold-searching means. It can not only differentiate auriferous quartz from non—auriferous quartz, but also can help ascertain the ore-forming prospect of gold-bearing quartz thus decrease the working hours of chemical analysis on gold tenor and improve the gold-searching effect. The quartz of maopai gold—deposit generally contains more inclusion of carbon dioxide (CO_2), this may probably be related to that the hydrothermal solutions of metamorphic origin contain carbon dioxide (CO_2) fluids.
