Regeneration of spent cathode material LiCoO_2 and its electrochemical performance

After purification,the spent LiCoO_2 was regenerated at high temperature by adding lithium salt. The component,structure and morphology of the LiCoO_2 materials before and after regeneration were characterized with ICP,XRD and SEM,the electrochemical performances of regenerated LiCoO_2 were tested by cyclic voltammetry and charge-discharge tests. The regenerated material exhibited excellent electrochemical performance,the first charge and discharge capacity could reach 163 and 150 mAh ·g~(-1) at 0. 1 C,and retained 140 mAh·g~(-1) with no decay after 100 cycles at 0. 5 C,suggesting the regenerated LiCoO_2 displayed high reversible capacity and superior cycle stability,therefore,this method was applied to a high value recycling utilization of spent LiCoO_2.
