REVISION OF THE CHINESE PEAR STEM GIRDLERS WITH DESCRIPTION OF A NEW SPECIES(HYMENOPTERA:CEPHIDAE)

Yang Jikun(Beijing Agricultural University)
The Pear stem girdler is an important pest of the pear trees. The Janus piri Okamoto et Muramatsu was originally described from Korea in 1925,and reported in China from 1931,but this is a species complex.contain the J.gussakovaskii Maa,not only differens by the morphology also by the life history and injury characters. The latter is one generation per one year, and the former is two years per one generation(not per one years as in the most literatures). In this paper a new species is described from Xinjiang.A key to the known Chinese species and an European species J.compressus(F.) is also given.Janus piriodorus Yang,sp.nov.Female(fig.1) length of body 8-8.5mm.of fore wing 7-7.5mm,wing spread about 14. 5mm.Black,shining.Yellow on mouthparts(except for redish black apices of mandibles), clypeus, latero-caudal corners of pronotum.tegular and most of the legs. The base of coxae and claws black, hind legs the femora brownish yellow and with knees black.Closely allied to the J.piri Okamoto et Muramatsu.but differing in the following points:1) Mandible with the lower margin almost straight, and the upper tooth distinct larger than the lower tooth(fig.ZA):2) Maxillary palp with the 3rd segment swollen near the bacal portion(fig.2A);3) Labial palp with the 4th segment distinct longer than the lst segment(fig.2A);4) Apex of abdomen from the side(fig.3A) curved in the dorsal margin, and the vaginula more storier and stout.Male length of body 6.5~7mm,of fore wing 6~6.5mm,wing spread about 12. 5mm.Quite similar to the female of J.piri with knees black on the hind legs, but distinguished from it by the male genitalia(fig.4A) in the hasal portion of ganostipes very slender and elongate.Holotype ♀,allotype ♂,and paratypes 4♀♀.4 ♂♂,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Korla County, 1990-1-10, emerged from the stem of pear, reared by Miss Zhou Nail.Type specimens were kept in the insect Collections of Beijing Agricultural University.
