An Electrochemical Sensor Based on ZnS:Ni/ZnS Quantum Dots for Determination of Catechol

ZnS:Ni quantum dots(QDs)were prepared by wet chemical route,which were coated by ZnS shell through surface modification to obtain ZnS:Ni/ZnS.The QDs were characterized by atomic force microscope(AFM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and infrared radiation(IR).Then,cyclic voltammetry was used to form the modified electrodes and determinate catechol(CC)in phosphate buffer solution.As promising materials,ZnS:Ni and ZnS:Ni/ZnS quantum dots were used to construct a novel electrochemical sensor on a glassy carbon matrix by electropolymerization method.The modified electrode was developed for the amperometric determination of catechol in 0.1mol·L~(-1) phosphate buffer solution.Experimental results showed that the redox peak current was observably increased after glassy carbon electrode(GCE)was modified with ZnS:Ni and ZnS:Ni/ZnS quantum dots.Compared with the bare electrode and ZnS:Ni modified electrode,catechol exhibited well-defined redox peaks and much larger peak currents at ZnS:Ni/ZnS quantum dots modified electrode.Meanwhile,it also showed that 20 was the best electrochemical polymerization cycles,and the optimum pH of phosphate buffer solution was 4.5.Under optimal conditions,the linear range between current response of catechol and its concentration was from 1.0×10~(-6) to 1.0×10~(-3) mol·L~(-1)(r=0.999 9)with the detection limit of 4.2×10~(-7) mol·L~(-1).The proposed sensor exhibited good repeatability,stability and anti-interference ability with potential applications.
