Incense of Soul and Mythical Beast: From Rome to the Han Dynasty——Tribute by Yuezhi Country in the Book of Shizhouji

WANG Yong-ping;School of History,Capital Normal University;
The Han Emperor Wudi liked to journey here and there and met envoys from Yuezhi Country in90 B. C. from whom he got incense of soul,mythical beast and other magic gifts. These tributes came from Rome and were brought to China by businessmen from Yuezhi Country through Silk Road. This shows that Silk Road became an important channel for the spread of various goods between the West and China as well as the interaction of civilizations after Zhang Qian opened this road.
