From “Quasi- matchmaker” towards “community leadership”:Reflections on the localization of triangle functions of community foundations

Currently community foundation is an eye- catching issue within philanthropic field. This article sorted out the development of worldwide community foundations against their respective relationships between the state and society. Draddy and Morgan proposed that thefunctions performed by community foundations included donor services,matchmaker and community leadership. Based on their framework,this article elaborated the localized content of these three functions in China and argued that against current social context in China,majority of community foundations in China are performing the functions as "quasi- matchmaker" whose capacity of fundraising is still need to be promoted. With the development their matchmaker function,community foundations may become to be influential leading organizations in the community.
