In the background of Western learning spreading to the East,the reliable way is to choose examples from academic history,from which Guo Shao-yu,Zhu Zi-qing and Qian Zhong-shu in the1930 s are chosen to discuss their views of "pure literature"and history of Chinese literary criticism.Their professional views,path of thought and academic knowledge can form an excellent academic history."Pure literature"is to Western learning( way),and "Chinese literary history"to Chinese experience( object),so in some degree their discussions have become a historical metaphor of Chinese academic community for one hundred years.
