On the Feminism in The Wuthering Heights

JIANG Xiao-wen (The Chinese Department of China East Normal University,Shanghai 200062,China) [
This article will analyse the metaphor at the beginning of The Wuthering Heights to prove that The Wuthering Heights is virtually a feminine inner world which stubbornly resist the male discourse. And the feminine inner world which the author took great pains to build up demonstrates the self-consciousness and self-characteristic in the heart of the woman who lived under the strong pressure of the male-dominated society, lonely, depressed and permeated with irrepressible vitality and desire. In the course of further interpreting,we will find that the novel described a history of feminine narcissism and rebel,a history of feminine revenge ,and a history of feminine pursuit in the male-dominated society. It is exactly the expression of the writress's self-experience.
