Study on kinetics of hydrochloric acid dissolution of the Al_2O_3 in montmorillonite

Hydrochloric acid dissolution is a major method of montmorillonite's activation at present.The main factors that affect the leaching rate of montmorillonite in hydrochloric acid were first determined and based on the optimum conditions,the leaching rate of Al_2O_3 from montmorillonite was studied.The results are summarized as follows:the leaching kinetics of Al_2O_3can be represented by the model of the flat plate controlled by internal diffusion and the relation between the leaching rate(X)and the reaction time(t)can be represented as(1-X)2 =-kt;and the apparent activation energy for Al_2O_3 leaching is about 24.3 kJ/mol.
