Spoken English Teaching of Medical College Students Based on Chunk Theory

SHANG Guan-qun, JIANG Li and QU Ping (School of Foreign Languages, Harbin Medical University, Harbin 150080, China)  
This paper analyzed the problems in traditional college English teaching. Combining them with the practice of Chunk theory in medical education home and abroad and students’ different characteristics in Harbin Medical University, we applied Chunk theory to spoken English teaching in seven-year medical program students. It was found that Chunk theory is an effective way to improve the quality of self-study of the students, the motives of study and efficiency. Finally, we gave some suggestions on how to implement Chunk theory in practice.
