The Calculation of Thermodynamic Properties for Binary Mixtures of Gases with SRK and PR Equations

The calculations of thermodynamic properties of fluids are important calculations in Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics.The cubic equations of state are frequently used for such calculations.SRK equation and PR equation are developed based on RK equations and can get a better accuracy.But in present textbooks,there is no description on the calculation of residual enthalpy and residual entropy with PR equation and SRK equation,resulting in the incompleteness in the calculation methodology.In this paper,we derive residual enthalpy and residual entropy calculation formula of PR equation and SRK equation based on the generalized cubic equation of state.With Microsoft Excel spread sheet,thermodynamic properties of a binary gaseous mixture are calculated.The use of Microsoft Excel enables the calculation process simple and intuitive,and helps students better in understanding the calculation procedures.
