POTASH-HUNTING PROSPECTS OF THE ORDOVICIAN SEQUENCES IN NORTH SHAANXI WITH REFERENCE TO THEIR GEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

Meng Qing (The No.2 Geological Team of Shandong Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources)
The Eerduosi syneclise in North Shaanxi has been proven as qualified for favourable salt-genetic condition though investigations into its tectonic characters, palaeoclimatie fluctuation and capability to trap and preserve salts. In fact, potash minerals or thin beds has been discovered at the eastern part of the syneclise which is thus regarded as the most promising region of the country for searching for potash resources.Meanwhile, the central level of the No.5 member of the Middle Ordovician Majiagou group should be given preference in the coming potash prospection.
