ORE-FORMING CONDITIONS AND GENETIC TYPES OF SEPIOLITE DEPOSITS IN CHINA

Sepiolite deposits having high value in use have been located in 13 provinces (autonomous regions) of China. Among them, Jiangxi, Hunan, Jiangsu and Shaanxi provinces have sepiolite reserves making up more than 80% of the total reserves in the country. Generally, they generally rest on margins of platform depressions and formed essentially in Permian and Triassic periods. Deposit types may be classified into two main sorts, sedimentary (continental, marine and volcanic-sedimentary) and hydrothermal.
