The increasing anthropogenic CO2 emissions and possible global warming have challenged the living environment for human being. Therefore, more and more attentions have been attracted to achieve reduction of CO2 emissions. Studies on the catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 for methanation are reviewed from the thermodynamic properties, catalysts, and reaction mechanism. It is believed that the global CO2 recycling is a potential strategy to decrease the content of CO2 in the atmosphere.
