Study on Synthesis and Swelling Behavior of Salt-resistant Super-absorbent

A super-absorbent resistant to saline solution was prepared form copolymer of sodium acrylate with acrylamide with potassium persulphate and sodium thiosulfate as an initiator, N,N′-methylene-bis-acylamide as a crosslinking agent, by means of speedy water solution copolymerization. The influence of mole ratio of acrylamide AM to acrylic acid AA, degree of neutralization of AA, the amount of cross-linking agent and initiator on water and salt absorbency were investigated and optimized. Primary study on swelling behaviors of superabsorbent was made in the paper.
