ON THE NATURE OF LONG DISCHARGES IN THE HL-1 TOKAMAK

The long discharges obtained during test operation of the HL-1 tokamak in 1985 are analyzed. The computational results of a zero-dimensional code based on a simplified runaway model are found to be consistent with most of the experimental phenomena observed. It seems plausible that the long tail of the discharges is dominated by runaway electrons.
