Photodegradation of Methylene Blue by Magnetic Ag_3PO_4/CuO/CuFe_2O_4 Nanocomposite

The magnetic Ag_3PO_4/CuO/CuFe_2O_4 nanocomposite material was successfully fabricated by a two-step approach including a facile hydrothermal method and a deposition strategy.The assynthesized samples were characterized by XRD, EDS, FESEM and UV-vis DRS.The photocatalytic properties of the as-obtained magnetic nanocomposite were investigated by the degradaion of methylene blue(MB) dye under visible light irradiation, and the results showed that the degradation efficiency of the Ag_3PO_4/CuO/CuFe_2O_4 was about 89 % in 90 min, which was higher than those of pure CuO/CuFe_2O_4 and Ag_3PO_4.The free radical trapping experiments confirmed that the superoxide free radicals(O2·-) and caves(h+) were the most active species for the decomposition of MB in the Ag_3PO_4/CuO/CuFe_2O_4 photocatalytic system.The photocatalyst could be collected by an external magnetic field and reused.After three repeated runs, the degradation efficiency of the as-prepared nanocomposite still got to 85 % for MB degradation.
