A Study of the Synthesis Mechanical Property and Compatibility of Ionomer LIPN

Ionomer Latex Interpenetrating Polymer (Io-LIPNs) are synthesized by copolymerizing a minor proportion of acrylicacid on the PnBA backbone, and the acid group is neutralized with metal ion to form an ion crosslinking latex seed. The second component monormer was then introduced into the seed latex and polymerized in situ to form Io-LIPN. Damping behaviours are evaluated by DMS. The results show higher damping factor over wide tepmerature range. (e. g. Tan δ0.3 in the temperature range of -25℃ to 165℃), which can be ascribed to the synergism of the two components and also to the contribution of repeated dissociation and recombination ionic bonding. Investigations of compatibility via DMS suggest that the Io-LIPNs can form a so-called polar compatibilization system,Io-LIPNs technique is valuble not only in theory but also in practice.
