Stability and vibration characteristics of cylindrical shells under axial compression

The dynamical equations for displacement increments of cylindrical shells under axial compression were derived and the analysis solution of the equations obtained by means of Hamilton′s theorem.The variation curve of the critical dynamic buckling compression-shell′s length of cylindrical shells under axial compression was analyzed by numerical calculation,and also the variation curve of shell-geometry parameters(length,thickness) and axial load on the vibration frequencies was stu-died.The numerical calculation results show that the critical dynamic buckling compression is closely related to the deformation modes;the vibration frequencies decrease with the ascent of shell′s length and increase with the ascent of shell′s thickness;the vibration frequencies and the lowest frequencies decrease with the ascent of axial compression.
