Analysis of calculation of ultimate strength of ship structure under pitting damage

It is difficult to calculate ultimate strength of hull structure under the condition of the pitting corrosion damage.Thus,after the analysis of characteristic elements of pitting,a concept of pitting characteristic matrix is presented and a mathematical method to describe the pitting corrosion is proposed based on the pitting corrosion inquest data from ship construction.Based on the pitting characteristic matrix,different pitting corrosion damage assessment methods commonly used are analyzed in theory.Simultaneously,in the view of stiffness reduction,a new ultimate strength evaluation method is presented to calculate the pitting corrosion damage degree.Finally a stiffened plate is taken as the research object to discuss and analyze the feasibility and applicability of three kinds of pitting corrosion damage assessment methods under different load conditions.The result shows the ultimate strength calculation under pitting corrosion based on DOP andΔVis influenced by bearing forms remarkably,and the applicability of stiffness reduction factor is relatively better.
