Ship Displacement/Cost Studies Using Small Perturbation Analysis

Gao Xinghua Li Jiyuan
It is often of interest in modern ship design process to determine changes in ship displacement and construction cost due to changes in ship design parameters. This process can be named “ship displacement/cost studies”. A“small perturbation analysis” approach is provided in this paper to perform these studies. On the basis of describing the principle of this approach, the detail process is illustrated taking some ship propulsion parameters for example. Then the approach to ship design/cost tradeoff process is shown with a set of ship parameters from a destroyer as inputs.
