CAPILLARY PRESSURE AND RELATIVE PERMEABILITY OF THREE PHASE FLOW IN POROUS MEDIA

For solving porous media multiphase flow equations, capillary pressure—relative permeability—fluid saturation relationships are the most important bases. Under three—phase situation, it is very difficult to measure saturation, pressure and permeability of each phase simultaneously, and the measured results are even not so reliable. Based on the assumption of relative wettability of involved three phases, it is discussed in this paper that it is possible to get the three—phase capillary pressure—saturation relationship through the capillary pressure—saturation results of two—phase system. The expression formula of capillary pressure—saturation relationship by Brooks and Corey was used in this paper to extend the result of two—phase system to three—phase system. In addition, using relative permeability model of Mualem and Brooks and Corey's capillary pressure—saturation relationship, relative permeability—saturation relationship of each phase in three—phase system was deduced. Further more, this set of relationships can be conveniently applied to get the relative permeability of arbitrary two—phase system.
