Investigation of Water Quality and Hydrobiontes in Bayou Headwater Wetland of the Mudan River

GAO Ju-hong,SHU Jian-min,SONG Fu,MENG Xiao-jie,YANG YanChinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences,Beijing 100012,China
Surface water and hydrobiontes in bayou headwater wetland of Mudan River named Haerbaling were sampled. The physicochemical characteristics of water quality, and the kinds and number of hydrobiontes were studied. The aquatic ecoenvironmental status of the investigated area was assessed with the methods of Single Factor Evaluation on Water Quality and Diversity Index. The results reflect that bayou headwater wetland of the Mudan River is still in natural condition. The hydrobiontes are rich and the water is in the early stage of oligotrophication to mid-eutrophication.However,as the result of bletting and decomposing of wetland plants, the organics of sedimentation are accumulated, which results in high concentration of organics in some places. And the concentration of Mn in the water flowing from holes and aperture of basalt is high in some places, leading to high background of inorganic Mn.
