Independent and superimposed gold mineralization in Tongling Shizishan ore field

Baocun deposit and Chaoshan deposit,explored recently in the Shizishan ore field,are skarn gold-only deposits.Studies indicate that the gold in the two gold fields is vain-featured.Bismuth minerals,the main gold-loaded mineral,is rich in the gold ore.There is obviously positive correlation between Bi and Au in the ores,and the gold deposits can be defined as Bi-type gold ones in terms of geochemical classification.The comparisons of the gold-only deposits and associated ones in Shizishan ore field show that the Bi-type gold mineralization not only generate such gold-only deposits as Baocun deposit and Chaoshan deposit,but also form superimposed gold deposits by superimposed mineralizing in the earlier skarn copper and sulfur deposits (or ore bodies).The superimposed Bi-type gold mineralization may account for the fact that auriferous deposits in Tongling area are larger in scale and higher in gold tenor than in other areas.Finding and studying Bi-type gold deposit has meanings in theory and practice.
