Research on coaxial powder-feed using Laser engineered net shaping

Laser Engineered Net Shaping (LENS) is a new kind of rapid prototyping technology developed in recent years, which introduces laser cladding technology on the basis of the traditional rapid prototyping. Different from Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), LENS can rapidly forming the metal function parts, whose density and intensity are higher without the complicated after-treatment processes such as infiltration and hot iso-static pressing and so on. The composition of the LENS system is introduced. The composition and the principle of operation of the coaxial powder-feed equipment are mainly introduced. The relationship of the powder flux and the rotate speed of the stepping motor is tested.
