Hybrid Cartesian Grid Method for Compressible Viscous Flows

A hybrid Cartesian grid method is developed on the basis of overlapping grid technology in this paper. The Cartesian grid is treated as main grid and the structural mesh plays the role of special solid wall boundary in this method. At the same time,a grid adaptive technology based on the characteristics of the flow field and a finite volume type Reynolds average Navier- Stokes( RANS) flow solver are developed for simulation of compressible viscous flows. The comparison of the simulation results of the classical transonic airfoil RAE2822,double NACA0012 airfoils and high lift airfoil NLR- 7301 with their experiment data indicates that this method is feasible and accurate,so it provides a solution to the study of two- dimensional flow problems with complicated shapes.
