This 1964-1974 experiment on transplanting Perna viridis Linnaeus along the Guangxi coast showed that the mussels could grow and reproduce naturally there. We succeeded in se-mi-artifically growing seedlings which thrived well after they were put to sea. Since then, from 1967 to 1995,every year, living larvae and full-grown mussels could be found in some part of the sea along the Guangxi coast where they have evolved into a natural species.
